Esala Perahera festival (1)Posted by Jeremie (Brooklyn, New York, United States) on 16 September 2008 in Lifestyle & Culture. The Esala Perahera festival of Kandy, Sri Lanka, is the most important religious festival of the buddhist calendar in the country. The procession, which sees more than 60 elephants dressed with luxurious robes and lights parading through the streets, honors the relic of the Buddha tooth carried by the most venerated elephant of the whole country. As I am moving in a new apartment this week end, I will have no access to Internet for few days and will therefore not be able to reply to your comments. However, photographs will still be posted everydays. I will try to catch up with you once I am back on the World Wide Web. See you soon!
