One word: cute!Posted by Jeremie (Brooklyn, New York, United States) on 24 September 2008 in People & Portrait and Portfolio. Coming back to the Vel festival, that I've illustrated with a black and white serie some few weeks back, I wanted to share with you the last sight I kept of this moving experience (for the reader / viewer who has no idea of what I'm talking about, I suggest you to have a look at the 15 August and following days), which was quite a relief indeed. On one of those charriots, by the end of this never ending procession, stood an 8 to 9 years old girl. A typical hindu Tamil girl, with the greyish ash mark on the forehead, sign that she had previously been blessed by one of the crazy "hooked" men... The belly empty and relatively shaken by the last 2 hours of intense, and sometime dreadful, photographic session, I could not resist to take a last pic of this beautiful and peaceful face. My first shot was met by a shy and defensive look, which took no time to dissipate when I answered with a simple smile giving way to a more serene and comforted look. One of my favourite portrait so far... As I am moving in a new apartment this week end, I will have no access to Internet for few days and will therefore not be able to reply to your comments. However, photographs will still be posted everydays. I will try to catch up with you once I am back on the World Wide Web. See you soon!
